Back in 2000, Lionel introduced a new O-gauge track system called, FasTrack ®. This track system is a dream come true for model railroaders. From smooth operating switches to clicky-crossovers to realistic operating crossings with lights and sounds. FasTrack is the supplied trackage on all starter sets.
FasTrack incorporates a realistic roadbed. It snaps together using large alternating pins that are staked to each rail section, providing an excellent electrical and mechnical connection. No more pins to pull and loose.
Because of the roadbed, FasTrack can not be cut like the traditional tubular track. As a value-added service to our customers, we offer two tools to help you design your layout. First, we use a computer track layout program, RR-Track ™, that allow us to take the guest work out of creating a layout. Designing a layout is all about space, distance and angles. To assist our customers with a FasTrack layout, we offer a 9-page document entitled "Lionel FasTrack Size Table", showing possible track section combinations when using the various straight pieces ranging from 1-3/8" to 20".
